The Paris Adventure

The Arrival - Paris

Boarding the train in Amsterdam ( we were a bit early! ) for what was supposed to be a 3 1/2hr journey found us with a 1hr Delay on the high speed line so we were a little late getting into Paris!

Leaving the train station we were ushered into a waiting cab ( and yes we did get ripped off, $75eu for a 5k cab ride ) but it was easy!

Arriving at the Belmont to our very nice room where a much needed rest and relax was had.

We then headed out for a meal and apart from the deep fried Octupus ( No way! ) It did not disappoint. Paris is very expensive with the Aussie Dollar the way it is at the moment but there are plenty of sights to be seen over the next few days!

Day 1 - Paris (Versailles)

Waking up early we decided to have breakfast and then head to the Arc De Triomphe which was not far from our hotel. This is one of the most recogonised monuments in the world and it's massive!

We then made our way to the Palace of Versailles by train in the morning for the rest of today's adventures. The train system was very easy to navigate once we sorted out the travel card system.

After about 35min on the train we arrived at the Palace and the sheer size and opulence was incredible! I'm pretty sure the other 25,000 people there also thought so!

Keeping our cool throughout the exploration was a bit of a task but the architecture and history of the Palace was worth it! The staterooms and Chapel were ornate and the Hall of Mirrors & Gardens also made this worth the trip.

Following lunch at a nearby Cafe we headed back into Paris and did manage to do some window shopping! With the Dollar the way it is it was mainly window shopping though!

A quick change back at the hotel and then out again for dinner reservations at "Crazy Horse" Burlesque show. This show has been running since the 50's and was so worth it. The performances and entertainment was amazing! Still trying to figure out the lighting display, although Lisa was sure I was checking out the naked ladies!

Day 2 - Paris (Eiffel Tower)

After the 12km of walking yesterday today was a bit slower start. Heading off from the hotel we came across a market and then made our way to the Eiffel Tower for a pre booked lunch!

Security and tickets cleared, we made our way up the 1st level where the Brasserie is located. The size of the tower and its construction is amazing! There were lots of people around but once we were seated it was very relaxed and intimate considering the location. The lunch view was to die for as was the food! Lisa may have had "The best dessert ever". Following lunch we explored the views from the level and then descended to the ground.

A friend then advised that the Museum of Armament and Napoleon's tomb was worth checking out so off we went.

The Museum is located not too far from the Tower so a quick 20min walk and then tickets found us exploring French Cannons, Uniforms, Firearms and swords along with the history of battles. Napoleon's Tomb was next level. The crypt and ornate sculptures were a sight that must be seen. We were so grateful for this recommendation!

The bus network in Paris is also quite easy to use so we managed to get a bus to our hotel and then spent the afternoon relaxing and letting our stomachs settle after the lunch!
