The London Adventure

The Arrival - London

Leaving Paris in the morning we boarded the Eurostar Train for London. The process of boarding and going through customs and security was actually pretty straight forward. The high speed train even with a slight delay only took just over 3hrs to arrive in London!

A taxi ride with a very helpful and friendly driver had us at our new home for the next few days the Melia in Kensington which is very central to everything!

A quick check in and bag drop into our room and we were off to explore the local sights. First we checked out the Museum of Natural History and then the Victoria and Albert Museum. Both of these were amazing and provided some interesting information and displays.

Then a short walk away was Harrods and it would be rude not to drop in and check it out! Harrods has every designer label you can think of, some amazing food areas and we did enjoy it with probably 5000 other guests and that was just the ground floor!

On our way back to the hotel we did find a "Tesco" which is like Woollies in England and stocked up on snacks!

Day 1 - London

After an awesome breakfast at our hotel we started exploring the city via the "Hop On - Hop Off" bus network which our hotel organised for us! The Bus system was fairly easy to use as long as you followed the map closely!

We headed around Kensington Gardens and Trafalgar Square through the ritzy part of London and jumped off at Big Ben. A cruise on the Thames River allowed us a different perspective and was very enjoyable and the crew provided some great commentary on the sights! We disembarked at Tower Bridge and then had a tour of the Tower of London and "The Crown Jewels"...Wow! We weren't allowed to take photos or videos of all of the Crowns and Jewels so if you're ever in London please check it out! ( I did have my video glasses on but with the amount of security they have...I'm too pretty for prison over here! )

A quick Lunch and we were back on the buses and toured around to  Parliament House, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and the Marble Arch! A lot of sights seen today!

Once we were back near our hotel we managed to find a great tea house, so scones and tea in London it was...mmmm so good! The walk back to the hotel was needed after this!

Day 2 - London

Setting off after breakfast we jumped on the "Hop On - Hop Off" buses again and headed to the Portobello Markets ( The long way around thanks to Google Maps, Which we are finding very helpful and very frustrating at the same time! ). The markets were a wonderful way to explore local produce and fashions and interact with locals.

We then travelled on our first "Tube" ride back towards the city to head to the British Museum. Although Security was very strict ( And Funny TBH ) once we entered Lisa wanted to explore the Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greek areas. We could have spent all day there but the crowds and frustration levels were high!

Dinner was spent catching up with our friends Michael and Jill from the cruise who were staying not far away and a local tavern ( The Elephant & Castle ) which provided some traditional English meals and drinks that were very much enjoyed.
